Massage is a wonderful way to relax, de-stress and unwind. Massage relaxes muscle contractions, spasms and relieves general body tension. It improves circulation as it increases the blood supply and nutrition to muscles. It can compensate for lack of exercise and contraction in persons who because of injury, illness or age are forced to remain inactive. It helps lessen inflammation following injury to ligaments and tendons, and so alleviates pain, lessens tissue damage and helps facilitate movement. Massage also promotes deep relaxation, which has tremendous health benefits.
Newark Extended Care has partnered with The Institute for Therapeutic Massage, a licensed massage school based in New Jersey, allowing our residents, as well as their families to receive FREE Swedish massages, from supervised massage students.
